Pathfinders Out of Home Care Programs provide a safe and nurturing environment for children and young people who require accommodation and are unable to live with family or foster carers.
We are currently seeking Casual Youth Workers to assist in the everyday care, growth and development of these children and young people. Primarily it is envisaged that you will work within the Individual Placement Arrangements (IPA) for 0-17-year olds or in our Short-Term Emergency Placements (STEP) for 12-17 year olds.
You will be required to work shift work, including sleepovers, and hours will be on an “as needed” basis. You may also be offered opportunities to support in our Interim Care Model (ICM) or Intensive Therapeutic Care (ITC) spaces – depending on need.
The successful applicant will work with team members from a trauma-informed and strengths-based framework to develop and provide safety for all children and young people in your care. Philosophies utilised will include Circle of Courage and the Sanctuary Model.
It is a requirement that you will have knowledge and understanding of issues affecting Aboriginal communities, societies, and cultures in NSW.
The successful applicant will provide, and support the provision of, holistic services to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal children, young people, and their families. You will advocate on behalf of Aboriginal young people and their families to provide cultural support. You will also be required to build strong connections with Aboriginal agencies to support and strengthen families and cultural connections.
This position is Level 3.1 under the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (“the SCHDSI Award”).
