The Australian Border Force (ABF) is an operationally independent body under the Home Affairs Portfolio. The ABF is responsible for operational border, investigations, compliance, detention (facilities and centres) and enforcement functions. In a rapidly evolving global environment, we perform to the highest standards while remaining agile to anticipate and respond to emerging threats, and capitalise on opportunities to partner with domestic and international border, customs, immigration, intelligence and law enforcement agencies.
Operations West is responsible for the effective facilitation of people and goods (travel and trade) across the international border in Western Australia (WA), while protecting government revenue and ensuring compliance with Australia's Customs and Immigration laws. Operations West consists of Aviation, Aviation Goods and Maritime along with District Operations, Operations & Planning, Investigations, Intelligence and Chief of Staff. Some locations may not have access to public transport options.
APS2 Administrative Support Officers are employed by the ABF to assist non-operational and operational teams.
Non-operational APS2 officers' duties may involve undertaking routine procedural, clerical, administrative support tasks. They are responsible for completing allocated tasks within required timeframes and producing work that is subject to close monitoring and checking by more senior staff.
Operational APS2 officers' duties may involve processing passengers through the international airport/seaports, directing passengers, administrative tasks and other general office duties.
Operational roles require officers to wear the ABF uniform and represent the ABF professionally in the public domain. Officers must be capable of interacting with members of the community and foreign visitors.

You will receive appropriate training in order to undertake requisite functions, such as passenger clearances. Training is currently around four (4) weeks in duration.
Successful completion of training is a condition of employment.

In the ABF we are looking for Officers who can:

* Under supervision, perform basic clerical tasks according to established and well-defined procedures, protocols and processes
* Conduct routine searches and update basic information using computer-based tools
* Draft basic correspondence and documents using Microsoft Office software
* Perform simple data entry, retrieval and maintenance activities
* Confidently perform at the APS2 Work Level Standards
* Engage in appropriate behaviour and manage obligations under the Department's Integrity and Professional Standards Framework
* Be required to wear a uniform and comply with ABF Uniform standards
* Uphold the APS Values and Code of Conduct at all times.
Note: Some positions may be shift which attract penalty rates. Employees are entitled to a penalty rate when working weekends, public holidays, overtime, late night shifts or early morning shifts. The majority of the positions will be in the Perth Metro area.

Eligibility
To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
* ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
* Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
