Carers NSW is the peak body representing and supporting over 850,000 family and friend carers across New South Wales. As an independent, not-for-profit organisation, Carers NSW is dedicated to advocating for carers’ rights, shaping policy, and delivering essential programs and services. Established in 1976, Carers NSW plays a pivotal role in influencing government policy, providing expert advice, and driving sector-wide improvements. The organisation offers a range of programs, including carer support, educational sessions and resources, employer engagement initiatives, and direct carer services.
The Opportunity
Carers NSW is seeking an experienced and visionary Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to lead the organisation and drive systemic advocacy, policy influence, and service delivery. Reporting to the Board, the CEO will provide strategic leadership, foster strong partnerships, and ensure financial and operational sustainability.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a purpose-driven organisation and make a tangible impact on the lives of carers across NSW. Key responsibilities as the Chief Executive Officer include:
1. Driving systemic advocacy to influence government policy and improve outcomes for carers.
2. Leading a high-performing team to deliver impactful programs and services.
3. Developing strategic partnerships to expand the organisation’s reach and funding opportunities.
4. Ensuring financial sustainability and operational efficiency aligned with Carers NSW’s strategic goals.
About You
Reporting to the Board, the CEO will drive Carer NSW’s strategic vision, champion policy and advocacy initiatives, and foster strong partnerships with governments, members, volunteers, sector leaders, the National Carer Network, and the wider community. For this appointment, we are seeking an experienced and influential leader with a strong background in the community services sector.
Additionally, as the successful candidate, you will bring:
1. Proven executive leadership experience, ideally within advocacy or service-based organisations.
2. Strong policy and advocacy expertise, with the ability to influence key decision-makers.
3. A track record of securing grants, funding, and strategic partnerships to drive organisational growth.
4. Relevant qualifications in Business, Social Science, Public Health, Social Work, or a related field.
