The hospital provides a wide range of services, including emergency, medical and surgical, maternity, rehabilitation, mental health, and outpatients. Whyalla Hospital's Cancer Resource Centre is one of the largest in regional South Australia. It includes six chemotherapy chairs, outpatient care and counselling services, reducing the need to travel outside of the region for care. It is also, one of three stroke services in regional SA, providing specialised treatment for suitable stroke patients 24/7, supported by metropolitan stroke units. Our staff work in close partnership with community health services and Aboriginal health providers, to ensure that optimum care is delivered to all areas of the community.Relocation and Accommodation Assistance:Financial assistance for relocation may be available for eligible applicants for appointments prior to 31 December 2024.Accommodation support may be available - conditions apply.About the Role:As a Nurse Midwife Unit Manager, you will leverage your clinical expertise to coordinate and enhance patient care delivery within a Health Unit or Community Service. Your primary responsibilities will include line management, coordination, and leadership of nursing, midwifery, and multidisciplinary teams, ensuring continuity and quality in patient care and outcomes.In this role, you will be accountable for the effectiveness of nursing and midwifery practices, addressing any discrepancies between practice and policy, and fostering a positive work culture. Your leadership will be essential in developing team performance, ultimately benefiting patient outcomes.About you:Must be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.Registered Nurse and or Midwife with at least 3 years post registration experience.Demonstrated competence in the relevant area of nursing and/or midwifery practice in accordance with the relevant standards.Experience in management and leadership roles.Experience in the supervision of students, enrolled nurses and less experienced registered nurses and or midwives.Immunisation Risk for this position is - Category A (direct contact with blood or body substances)This is a part time vacancy, working 48 hours per fortnight and salary will be adjusted according to actual hours worked.Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Criminal History Check and Immunisation compliance as indicated on the Role description.SA Health Services are required to implement the Addressing vaccine preventable disease: Occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy in the workplace.Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander applicants are encouraged to apply.Want To Know More?
