MIDDAY ON THURSDAY, 3 APRIL 2025 Applied research undertaken by the Animal Science Program seeks to understand the factors and processes that are critical for the conservation of Western Australia's rich and unique native fauna.
We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Research Scientist (Dirk Hartog Island National Park Ecological Restoration Project) to join our team. In this position, you will plan, coordinate and implement research on the fauna reconstruction element of the Dirk Hartog Island National Park Ecological Restoration Project (DHINPERP), including the collection, management and analysis of complex data, preparation of manuscripts for publication and reporting on progress. In addition, you will liaise with other researchers, DHINPERP project staff and Mid-West Regional and Shark Bay/Gascoyne District staff and provide expert advice on research outcomes to relevant internal and external stakeholders.

Selection Criteria Applicants should address the following five (5) criteria. These should be addressed in no more than five (5) pages in total. Considerable experience in planning and implementing fauna conservation and multispecies restoration research including complex experimental design and data analysis. Strong skills in project management under limited supervision. Demonstrated ability to publish complex research findings in a range of formats in a timely manner, including peer-reviewed journal articles. Well-developed skills to lead a research team undertaking field-based ecological research in remote areas. High level ability to effectively translate research outputs and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to achieve conservation outcomes.
