About Queensland Fire and Emergency Services
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) is an emergency service agency responsible for ensuring the safety of people and property across Queensland. We provide effective prevention, preparation, response, and recovery activities across various emergency situations.
We comprise the Fire and Rescue Service, the Rural Fire Service, and the State Emergency Service, supporting other volunteer groups providing emergency response to Queenslanders.
Purpose of the Role
The functions of QFES are unique, delivering high-quality fire, rescue, emergency, and disaster management services through a single agency. This collaborative approach improves safety outcomes for the community.
Key Requirements
* Mandatory Requirements:
o Australian Permanent Resident Status
o Manual C Class driver's licence
o Licence to attend incidents and emergencies (where applicable)
* Expectations throughout employment:
o Attending 50% of incident calls as a day worker with routine hours or 30% as a shift worker
o 75% attendance at regular drill and training sessions
o Obtaining an MRV licence within 12 months of employment
o Ongoing skills acquisition and maintenance programs, including first aid/emergency care
Your Key Accountabilities
* Respond to fire and emergency incidents as part of a team
* Promote community safety and emergency preparedness through community education
* Develop and maintain competencies through regular drills and training courses
* Maintain required attendance standards for emergency incidents and training
* Operate specialist firefighting and rescue equipment safely and effectively
