Job Description
The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a maintenance shop under the umbrella responsibility of a Maintenance Manager.
Key responsibilities include supervising a team of technicians responsible for preventive maintenance/repair of a fleet, machinery that supports a post-collection facility, repair/maintenance of equipment that services the container shop, and providing direction to ensure all repairs/maintenance are performed in compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
The Fleet Maintenance Supervisor plans and schedules repair work to ensure timely completion while maintaining safe working conditions and reducing lost productivity.
Principal Responsibilities
* Provide direction to lead technicians assigned to the work group to ensure safe, efficient, and timely repair and maintenance work.
* Monitor operational performance and efficiency, taking action to redirect activities as necessary.
* Report to management on performance, making recommendations for process improvements.
* Supervise technicians, including conducting daily shop huddles, fleet walks, coaching, counseling, and training.
* Make hiring/termination decisions in concert with Human Resources and management.
* Conduct employee training and performance evaluations, recommending merit increases, promotions, and job changes as appropriate.
Requirements
* High school diploma or G.E.D.
* Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification in multiple areas, including diesel engine, HVAC systems, electrical/electronic systems, and more.
* Minimum 3 years experience in maintenance working with heavy equipment and 1 year supervisory experience in a lead technician role or similar position requiring knowledge of safe working practices and regulations.
Key Skills
* Advanced knowledge of engine, emission systems, transmission, brake, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
* Ability to perform advanced preventive and repair maintenance functions on heavy equipment and vehicles.
* Strong understanding of vehicle body control systems, heating and air conditioning systems, and welding tools.
