About the Division
Integration and Coordination Division leads futures thinking and foresight in QRA, enabling a strategic approach to recovery and resilience in an environment of increasingly severe and frequent disaster events. To achieve this, Integration and Coordination Division will excel at stakeholder engagement, promote higher awareness of national and international best practice, influence national strategy, as well as catalyse whole of government planning and action to support the recovery and resilience of Queensland communities.
About the Team
The Hazard and Risk unit leads the development of the disaster risk management approach in Queensland, by ensuring government and communities have access to scientifically informed, reliable hazard and risk information, management processes and products that is fit for purpose and supports integrated disaster risk reduction and management practice. The unit consists of Flood Risk Management, Geographical Information Systems and Disaster Risk Management teams.
About the Role
* Provide specialist advice and support to drive successful program delivery.
* Identify and manage program risks and issues.
* Support engagement with key local government and state agency stakeholders on matters related to these programs to ensure timely responses to all requests.
* Support the team in daily activities and provide specialist assistance across the portfolio projects to ensure project milestones are achieved.
* Provide accurate and clear advice to colleagues and senior management team and key project stakeholders on strategic and operational matters in relation to flood risk management and resilience.
* Prepare timely and accurate briefings for executive leadership, partner agencies and state and national committees.
* Undertake research and engagement on best practice approaches to flood risk management, seeking to identify emerging best practice.
* Attend stakeholder meetings and events from relevant industry and community organisations and incorporate learnings into QRA's flood risk management programs and projects.
* Develop and maintain collaborative and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
* Demonstrate effective oral and written communication and confidently present messages in a clear, concise, and articulate manner.
* Maintain clear and accurate records that contribute, ensuring that all corporate information is captured within the QRA's business systems.
* Demonstrate excellent planning and organisational skills, including high attention to detail.
* This role reports to a Principal Advisor (Technical Lead, Flood Risk Management).
