The Healthcare Purchasing and System Performance (HPSP) division within Queensland Health purchases public health and social services from service providers has responsibility for investing nearly $18 billion on behalf of the State and managing community services contracts to the value of approximately $280 million. HPSP is also responsible for capturing and analysing performance data and designing and preparing system performance reports to guide and inform performance monitoring and purchasing decisions. The Division collects, validates, processes and maintains major corporate data collections and data assets and provide validated health data to the Commonwealth and other national funding and health information authorities.
The Statistical Services Branch sits within Healthcare Purchasing and System Performance.
About the Opportunity
Reporting directly to the Deputy Director-General of the division you will be responsible for leading the development, coordination and delivery of statistical information services with a focus on evolving systems and capabilities.
Your expertise in managing data and information will be instrumental in shaping the strategic direction of the department's statistical data and information management initiatives while providing high-level input to interdepartmental, state-wide, and national committees, contributing to the effective use of data and information. By identifying emerging issues and developing strategies, you will influence changes in national policies and manage the department's response to national and international directions in statistical information management. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence state-wide policy regarding timely access to and the effective use of data and information.
Building strong relationships with key stakeholders, you will ensure successful implementation of Queensland Health's priorities and represent the department effectively at all levels of government.
About you
With a demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership your experience will have been gained within a centralised information, data, and reference facility in a large service delivery organisation. You will have managed multi-disciplinary programs and diverse work units and possess a high level of knowledge in public administration, enabling you to proactively anticipate and respond to emerging state and national issues and priorities within a Queensland service delivery context.
With a proven track record of high-level negotiation, consultative communication, and interpersonal skills, your ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively will be key in advocating for the department and establishing strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
