We provide expert care to surrendered, neglected and abandoned companion animals across NSW. The OpportunityAnimal Welfare League NSW is looking for 2 Veterinary nurses to join our growing team. The role will primarily be based at our Kemps Creek Veterinary Clinic supporting animals that have been rescued by our Inspectors & Animal Ambulance or surrendered to us by their owners. You can expect to see and respond to a full range of patient needs, primarily domestic cats and dogs.You will also have the opportunity to travel to regional communities to work on our Mobile Vet Clinic to deliver subsidized de-sexing, vaccinations and microchipping services. During times of crisis, our Mobile Vet Clinic is also deployed to affected areas to support communities during natural disasters such as bushfires and flooding. Our MVC team offer a safe haven for displaced animals, assistance with pet products and food and veterinary care to impacted communities during times of need.Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians in various procedures, including surgeries, dental cleanings, and diagnostic tests
Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by veterinarians
Monitor and record vital signs of animals, including heart rate, respiratory rate, and temperature
Provide post-operative care and monitor recovery of animals
Educate clients on proper animal care and nutrition
Maintain accurate medical records and update patient information in the computer system
Clean and maintain equipment and facilities to ensure a safe and sanitary environment
Willingness to undertake Vet Clinic reception duties and provide nursing advice in response to clinic enquiries

Cert IV qualifications in Veterinary Nursing
Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a veterinary clinic or hospital
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
Knowledge of animal behaviour, anatomy, and physiology
Proficient in computer skills and ability to learn new software program
Deep knowledge and compassion for animals
Familiarity with relevant legislation, including The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act and the Companion Animals Act, is advantageous.
