About the RoleThe NSW Government is seeking a Provisional Fellow in Medical Oncology to join our team at St George Hospital. As a Provisional Fellow, you will be responsible for performing a specified research project under the supervision of the Director of Medical Oncology or delegated Medical Oncologist. You will also provide clinical care to medical oncology outpatients under the supervision of Attending Medical Officers (AMOs) for 2-3 clinics per week and support the provision of inpatient care as required.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform a specified research project under the supervision of the Director of Medical Oncology or delegated Medical OncologistProvide clinical care to medical oncology outpatients under the supervision of Attending Medical Officers (AMOs) for 2-3 clinics per weekSupport the provision of inpatient care as requiredWork as part of a multidisciplinary team and support the supervision of Advanced Trainees, Junior Medical Officers (JMOs) and medical students as requiredParticipate in clinical meetings and teaching and be subject to training and performance reviewsRequirementsMBBS or equivalent, current general registration with the Medical Board of AustraliaMust have completed the core component of advanced training and eligible for elective year in Medical Oncology or have completed the requirements for Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians as a Medical OncologistDemonstrated ability to manage a project (e.g. research, quality assurance) and demonstrated ability in basic research skills, literature review, critical thinking, data collection, data analysis and reportingDemonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills, judgment and expertiseDemonstrated organisational skills, good time management skills and capacity for self-directed learningDemonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills and capacity to work within a multi-disciplinary teamCommitment to core values of hospital based medical practice: patient care, teaching, research and quality improvementUnderstanding that training commitment entails potential secondment to community, regional and or rural hospital
