Alawa Aboriginal Corporation (AAC) is a non-profit organization that represents the interests of the Alawa people in the Northern Territory of Australia. AAC operates a number of self-funded operations and grant-funded programs, all aimed at delivering essential services such as Community Development Program, Aged Care, School Nutrition, Play Group, After School Care, Night Patrol, Municipal Services, Centrelink Services, etc to the residents and businesses of Minyerri Community. Our focus in all our operations is to provide better services in a sustainable manner to the community. About the role: Finance Manager is responsible for managing and administering the Alawa Aboriginal Corporation's Finance operations and lead the team to meet the community expectations, deliver organisational key performance indicators, and maintain financial accountability in line with the Council's Strategic and BusinessPlan, whilst creating a dynamic team that safeguards the financial integrity of the Council. Duties and responsibilities: Prepare and analyse monthly management reports, tracking financial performance against budget and managing grants. Work with activity managers to provide variance analysis of actual results compared to the budget. Manage Accounts Payables, Accounts Receivables, General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Annual audits, etc with minimum support. Manage payroll and related compliances. Preparation of grant acquittal and ensure timely submission. Preparation of finance board reports. Play a lead role in ensuring all internal controls, compliances and systems of AAC. Prepare and manage budgets. To be successful for this position, you will need the following: •Understand Indigenous culture and living in a remote indigenous community environment is a must. • Previous experience in a similar role within community services is an advantage, but not a must. • Be an Australian citizen or Permanent resident or right to work in Australia. • High level communication and team building skills to achieve optimal outcomes for the community and Council. • Extensive experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Grants, budgeting, and extensive skill in reports development. • Bachelor's degree or master's qualifications in accounting or CPA or CA preferred. • Outstanding knowledge of accounting principles and relevant standards. • Ability to analyse complex reports. • High level organisational skills with excellent attention to detail. • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a productive team member within a multidisciplinary team in a cross cultural and complex environment. • High level experience using financial accounting software and Microsoft applications. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • High level of problem-solving and time-management skills.
