To continue to deliver for our community, we are seeking a Building Inspector to assist the Deputy Municipal Building Surveyor and Municipal Building Surveyor in achieving safe and compliant building standards within Golden Plains Shire.
This role will provide you the opportunity to:
* Undertake inspections of building related works (including pool/spa barriers) together with providing assistance to the Deputy Municipal Building Surveyor and Municipal Building Surveyor in the enforcement of compliance.
* Investigate and inspect complaints and illegal works/building activity.
* Undertake inspection of public buildings (within practitioner registration limitations) across the Shire to assess public safety with respect to essential safety measures, structural integrity or compliance with the Building Code & Building Regulations.
* Prepare draft Building Notices, Building Orders, and Infringement Notices for sign off by the Municipal Building Surveyor or Deputy Municipal Building Surveyor.
Our ideal candidate will have:
* Tertiary qualification in Building Surveying and relevant work experience working in the Local Government or private building surveying environment.
* Current registration in the category of Building Inspector with the Victorian Building Authority along with a Construction Induction Card (White Card).
* Practical experience and knowledge of the legislative framework including Building Act, Building Regulations, Building Code of Australia and relevant Australian Standards.
* Superior planning and organising skills to support a self-managed approach to prioritising work.
* Strong customer-focus along with a demonstrated commitment to delivering high quality customer service and outcome.
* Excellent report writing skills and verbal communication skills.
