The Branch consists of six sections:External budgetsInternal budgets and reportingFinance business partnersProcurement and contractingFinancial accounting and reportingFinancial governance and operationsPOSITION DETAILSExecutive Level 1 ($126,885 - $153,655) | Ongoing | Full-time & Part-timeCanberra, ACTABOUT THE OPPORTUNITYThe Management Accountant (EL1) will be responsible for leading a small team in either the Finance Business Partner or Internal Budgets and Reporting teams to engage with stakeholders to provide strategic financial advice and support across the department. An ability to work independently with limited direction and deliver accurate financial information in a timely manner is essential for this role, along with being a highly motivated and high-performing individual with strong problem solving and analytical skills, the ability to respond in a positive and flexible manner to change, and to think creatively to support and solve business challenges.Duties of the role include but are not limited to:Assisting with the delivery of budgeting and financial management activities, advice and analysis, to support informed decision-making including the production of high-quality management reports, budgets, costings and forecasts.Contributing to the preparation of regular timely and reliable management and ad hoc reports, with clear and meaningful analysis to quickly convey relevant financial and budgetary information.Building and maintaining respectful and professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders to deliver outcomes, enable high quality reporting, support, and advice to clients across the department.Undertaking capital expenditure reporting and asset capitalisation process by actively consulting with the relevant stakeholders.Providing high quality, service focussed customer support, advice, and issue resolution to stakeholders across the department.Implementing key financial service improvement initiatives and identifying opportunities for development and improvements.Mentoring and supervision of staff.Undertaking other tasks as directed.ELIGIBILITY ADVICE & CANDIDATE NOTESUnder section 22(8) of the Public Service Act 1999, employees must be Australian citizens to be employed in the Australian Public Service (APS) unless the Agency Head has agreed otherwise, in writing.Successful applicants will be required to undergo the process to obtain and maintain, or continue to hold the required security clearance level for the role as indicated in the downloadable job pack.
