**Deputy Director, Rural Clinical School - Darling Downs - South West**
The University of Queensland (UQ) seeks a skilled and experienced medical professional to join our team as Deputy Director, Rural Clinical School - Darling Downs - South West. This is an exciting opportunity to provide academic leadership for the implementation of the MD Program and the Regional Training Hub (RTH) activities within the Downs-South West Medical Pathway (DDSW MP).
The DDSW MP is one of four key partnerships in the region, alongside the University of Southern Queensland, Darling Downs Health, and the South West Hospital and Health Service. As Deputy Director, you will play a critical role in the success of this initiative.
Key Responsibilities
* Teaching: Contribute to face-to-face clinical teaching, relevant to clinical expertise, to support the development of professional identity, as well as clinical knowledge and skills.
* Contribute to quality assurance and improvement activities.
* Contribute to the development and provision of supervisor training and support for both hospital and community-based clinical supervisors.
Additionally, you will be responsible for:
Research
Maintain personal academic standing, including the pursuit of research and scholarship. Contribute to building the Medical Pathway's research capacity by enabling and engaging in collaborative research projects between UQ academics, health service clinicians, and other partners.
Supervision and Researcher Development
Foster others in the responsible conduct of research.
Citizenship and Service
Provide academic leadership and oversight of the implementation and ongoing provision of the End-to-End DDSW Medical Pathway (MP), from student recruitment to fellowship training. Facilitate close working relationships with DDH and SWHHS to support and grow prevocational and/or vocational training pathways within their hospitals.
This is a teaching-focused position, requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, colleagues, and external partners. You will have the opportunity to work alongside talented individuals and contribute to the growth and development of rural medical careers.
About You
To be successful in this role, you must possess:
* A medical qualification and a non-GP Specialist or General Practice Specialist qualification, with eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia, with AHPRA.
* Masters or PhD, or equivalent experience, preferably in medical education or medical leadership.
* Expert knowledge and experience in a general or specialist clinical capacity, including evidence of knowledge of current education best practice.
* Evidence of a substantial senior contribution to quality clinical teaching at undergraduate, postgraduate, and/or professional level, in a range of settings including small and large groups.
* Experience in successfully undertaking or facilitating research or scholarship of teaching and learning.
