**Senior Development Planner Role at Central Coast Council**
Central Coast Council processes over 3,000 development applications annually, with a construction value exceeding $1 billion. This includes associated civil engineering approvals, supporting infrastructure, and principal certifying authority functions.
In recent years, there has been an uptick in development activity across various sectors, which is expected to continue as the regional economy grows.
The Senior Development Planner is responsible for achieving environmentally and socially responsible sustainable developments for the community by providing professional and technical advice on planning, development, property, and land use matters to Council, staff, community, and other relevant authorities.
This role involves mentoring other planners, providing support and guidance, and working on complex projects with Development Planners.
Council will create an eligibility list from this recruitment process and may utilize it to fill other Senior Development Planner vacancies.
Key responsibilities of this position include:
1. Assessing development applications at a high level, providing professional and technical advice on planning, development, and land use matters to Planning Panels, staff, community, and other relevant authorities;
2. Evaluating the impact of development proposals on development issues and determining appropriate development requirements to ensure orderly development;
3. Coordinating and managing complex development matters and special projects, ensuring appropriate consultation and outcomes are achieved.
Experience in court matters and preparation of reports and assessment of Planning Panel matters is also required.

The Senior Development Planner roles offer a salary range of between $99,000 to $119,000 per annum, plus 11.5% Superannuation, and a leaseback vehicle for official duties and private use.
In the meantime, either an alternate pre-used vehicle or a vehicle allowance of $207.31 per week is temporarily applied for this position due to ongoing issues with supply for new vehicles.
A 9-day fortnight work-cycle currently applies to this role, with flexible/hybrid working arrangements available.
Successful candidates may be required to undergo vaccinations against Hepatitis A and B and Tetanus or demonstrate their immunity.
