The Role In this newly created role, you’ll play an essential part in the Customer & Technology Legal team supporting EnergyAustralia with current and future privacy legislation. You’ll have the opportunity to shape and promote strong privacy governance, enhance our information management practices, and drive data enablement strategies. This is an opportunity to support EnergyAustralia’s Purpose while advancing your career in a challenging and regulated environment. Interpret and practically apply the legislation requirements from the Privacy Act 1988 and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and provide support with any other legislation involving the use of data such as the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act (Cth), the Cyber Security Act, the Competition and Consumer Data right, as well as other emerging, or related laws, rules and regulations. Provide leadership within EnergyAustralia on broader issues relating to data collection, processing, privacy and artificial intelligence. Lead the single point of engagement with the OAIC (and other relevant regulators) about data breach notifications, privacy complaints or significant projects. Undertake and implement a range of management activities in relation to compliance with applicable privacy frameworks. How can you support the Clean Energy Transition To be successful in this role, you will have some, or all of the following: Degree and/or tertiary qualification in Law, Business or related field. For candidates with a legal background, 5+ years in-house experience (or law firm) in AU, or in a commonwealth jurisdiction, i.e. UK, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore. Experience with implementing privacy management plans, processes and platforms. Candidates without legal qualifications but bring significant industry experience in privacy and compliance within energy or regulated industry (such as financial services) are encouraged to apply.
