Senior Medical Officer (General Practitioner with Special Interest) Gold Coast Hospital & Health Service – Southport QLD An opportunity has become available for a Senior Medical Officer (General Practitioner with Special Interest - Obstetrics and Gynaecology) to join Gold Coast Health (GCH) where the focus of our 10,000-strong team is on providing world-class health care to people living in the Gold Coast, and northern New South Wales region of Australia. About the role Provide high quality General Practitioner (GP) Obstetrics and Gynaecology support to the Women, Newborn and Children's Service (WNCS), making a substantial contribution to the development of a culture of medical education and safe, effective patient-centered clinical practice. This role's purpose is to join a specialist team delivering antenatal care within the agreed scope of their expertise and qualifications. There is also the opportunity to review obstetrics and gynaecological referrals from GPs in order to identify those patients that could be managed in the community with appropriate obstetrics and gynaecological advice. This aspect of the role is supported by resources available both in the form of clinical care pathways and direct access to obstetrics and gynaecological consultants. This role may also participate in obstetrics and gynaecological clinics dealing with patients who present with a wide variety of obstetrics and gynaecological issues including Mirena insertion, Vulval disease and Menorrhagia. Requirements for the role Evidence of vaccination, or be able to be vaccinated against - Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Pertussis and Hepatitis B. Tuberculosis screening - to identify if the tuberculosis vaccination may be required. Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed. MBBS or equivalent registrable with the Medical Board of Australia plus FRACGP / FACRRM or equivalent acceptable to the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners or the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine and registrable as a General Practice specialist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Relevant qualification/s and registration must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties. While not mandatory, being a current practicing GP with extensive local health knowledge would be well regarded. While not mandatory, training, qualifications and experience in both Obstetrics and Gynaecology would be well regarded.
