A highly regarded federal agency is seeking a Senior Financial Accountant to play a pivotal role in statutory reporting. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to financial governance and transparency while working in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Statutory Reporting, you will oversee ASIC's external financial reporting obligations, ensuring compliance with the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability Act (PGPA Act).
Key responsibilities include: Preparing year-end financial statements, coordinating the audit process, and compiling the annual report financials.Managing external reporting, including Portfolio Budget Statements and monthly financial results for Treasury and Finance.Reviewing month-end journals, reconciliations, and financial data integrity in PeopleSoft Financials.Ensuring accurate reporting in the Central Budget Management System (CBMS), including cash flow management.Leading asset register updates, stocktakes, and financial policy development.Providing high-level financial analysis and guidance to senior executives and external stakeholders.Coaching and mentoring a small team, driving continuous process improvement. About You
To be successful in this role, you will need:
CPA or CA qualification with a degree in Business, Commerce, or Finance.Demonstrated experience preparing statutory financial reports within an Australian Government agency.Strong knowledge of PGPA Act, financial governance, and compliance.Analytical and problem-solving skills with a meticulous eye for detail.Experience managing stakeholder relationships and advising senior executives.Leadership experience, with the ability to mentor and guide a team effectively.
