About the role

We are looking for a Works Coordinator to maintain and help improve civil infrastructure, including water and sewage networks of the Authority, ensuring that level of service targets in the asset management framework is met. Please note housing and relocation will not be offered for this role.
This is a great opportunity for an experienced and detail-oriented professional to enhance our civil infrastructure projects. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of essential services, contributing to the overall well-being of the community.

Reporting to the Supervisor Public Works and working in a collaborative community within the Engineering Works team, you will:
* Conduct thorough plumbing inspections and provide approvals on new and existing infrastructure to ensure compliance with standards.
* Oversee and manage town projects and contractors, ensuring timely and efficient completion.
* Execute planned and reactive maintenance activities to maintain the integrity of civil infrastructure.
* Support the Supervisor with budget administration and procurement processes, ensuring cost-effective solutions.
* Drive continuous improvement in methodology, procedures, processes, equipment, and resources to enhance operational efficiency.
* Foster a collaborative partnership approach with other teams across Weipa to achieve common goals.
* Apply relevant legislation and regulations to all work activities, ensuring compliance and safety.
What you’ll bring
* A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
* Certificate III in Plumbing or similar trade essential.
* Certificate IV in Plumbing is desirable.
* Demonstrated experience in water supply, plumbing, and sewerage maintenance.
* Demonstrated experience in contractor management.
* Strong understanding of working towards deadlines and budgets.
* A proactive approach towards personal and team Health, Safety, Environment & Community awareness.

Where you’ll be working
Our Weipa operations in Far North Queensland includes three bauxite mines, processing facilities, shiploaders, an export wharf, two ports, power stations, a rail network and ferry terminals.
Amrun, our newest mine, was completed in 2018 and will extend our Weipa bauxite operations by decades, significantly building on our 55-year history on the Western Cape, and providing jobs and supporting business growth in the region. The mine is located on traditional land. We work closely with the Traditional Owners to implement our agreements, ensuring that the benefits generated from mining support future generations and that important cultural heritage sites are identified and preserved.
