The Pharmacy Department also plays a pivotal role in managing the electronic medication management system within our comprehensive electronic medical record (Cerner), with an advanced level of integration linking this to the Pharmacy Dispensing (iPharmacy) and Automated Medication Storage systems (Omnicell). This is complemented by a strong clinical presence and a Centre for Medicine Use and Safety program to achieve a considered, safe and financially responsible approach to medication management within Alfred Heath. Further information is available at www.alfredpharmacy.org.au About the Role The Senior Pharmacist - Inpatient Services is a role focused on leadership, management and the operational services of the inpatient dispensary at Alfred Health. The position is critical in maintaining a central role in the communication between the dispensaries, pharmacy department, the wards, clinics and ancillary support services in ensuring provision of safe, timely, efficient and economical medication access to patients of Alfred Health. The senior pharmacists are expected to provide operational support within the Inpatient Dispensary, Outpatient Dispensary and Pharmacy Aseptics, working collaboratively with the Senior Operations Group to review service provisions and developments within the area. The position includes supervision of relevant pharmacy staff in the performance of their daily responsibilities, and monitoring relevant pharmacy staff compliance with pharmacy and hospital procedures relating to relevant responsibilities including but not limited to Dispensing, Drug Formulary and Drug Guidelines. Key Capabilities Ability to demonstrate leadership and decision-making skills Demonstrated knowledge in pharmacotherapeutics and pharmacoeconomics Patient-centred approach to healthcare A proven ability to manage staff, change and service development Excellent communication and time management skills with the ability to prioritise, plan, organise and deliver to deadlines Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams Ability to liaise with individuals from other departments including medical, nursing and administrative staff Qualifications & Experience Registered pharmacist with AHPRA Hospital Pharmacy experience or extensive operational pharmacy experience preferable, including experience in PBS Relevant post-graduate qualification such as Masters in Public Health / Pharmacy Practice / Clinical Pharmacy Practice / Health Management / Economics or equivalent highly desirable Recognised subject matter expertise within profession and or Advanced Practice Portfolio in the specialty highly desirable Benefits Salary Packaging & Novated Leasing through Maxxia.
