School of Mathematics and Physics Full-time, fixed-term position for up to 2 years Academic Level A / Level B Based at our St Lucia Campus location About This Opportunity The position is directly associated with Global Hub of Advanced Materials and Integrated Optoelectronics (GH-AMIO), supported by the Department of Industry Science and Resources in partnership with the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences & Engineering (ATSE) and the Australian Academy of Science. The program aims to establish a global hub for the development of cost-effective advanced carbon- and perovskite-based semiconductors intended for light conversion devices, sensors and ultra-high brightness OLEDs, applicable in both laboratory and manufacturing environments. Collaborators in this project include leading researchers in Australia encompassing the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation-CSIRO, Japan, S. Korea, Thailand, Malaysia and UK. Key responsibilities will include: Research: Establish a research program, collaborate on research projects, seek and manage research funding, publish in reputable journals, utilize best practice research methodologies, and participate in project discussions. Supervision and Researcher Development: Supervise students, recruit and manage employees, provide performance feedback and training, resolve conflicts, and ensure correct remuneration and benefits. Citizenship and Service: Develop partnerships, demonstrate leadership through mentoring, engage in internal service roles and committees, perform administrative functions, provide support to colleagues, and uphold university values. About You Completion of a PhD in any of semiconductor physics, optics, or photonics. Have recent and extensive experience in the fabrication and testing of organic semiconductor devices (e.g., OLED, Semiconductor Lasers, or solar cells) Have clean room experience including optical lithography and/or printed devices. Have experience in physical, electrical and optoelectronic property characterisation of semiconductor devices (e.g., Light Emitting Devices) Have an in depth understanding of basic photo-physical processes in optoelectronic devices (e.g., charge transport, ultra-fast processes, recombination physics, exciton generation) Be able to plan and execute fabrication and testing protocols successfully and safely with minimal supervision. Have the ability to take accurate and reliable records of work carried out. Have demonstrated capacity to work in a multi-disciplinary team in an integrated program of work. The ability to present work to other scientists in the field in a clear and concise manner. High-level communication, inter-personal and communication skills. A developing reputation and track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences. A growing record of supervision of Honours, Masters and/or and Research Higher Degree students. Additional for Level B : A growing profile in research in the discipline area. A developing reputation and track record of publications in reputed refereed journals and presenting at conferences. Evidence of successfully seeking, obtaining and managing external research funding. A growing record of supervision of Honours and Research Higher Degree students to successful completion.
