About the Role The Payroll Officer role is a critical part of THE ICONIC finance team and is essential to our employee experience. Our aspiration is to deliver an amazing employee experience that reflects our unique culture and brand. In this role you will handle all payroll processing duties; maintaining payroll records and ensuring compliance with Australian legislative requirements. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance the payroll cycle and contribute to process improvements in a fast-paced environment.
What Will You Be Doing Manage payroll workload to meet operational requirements. Ensure all payrolls are processed in an accurate, compliant and timely manner Process fortnightly (appx 550 employee) payroll Be capable of calculating timesheets and salaries for casual and permanent employees in line with multiple Awards, as well as new starters initial salary, movers pro-rata salary and leavers final salary including processing of terminations, redundancies and dismissals (although we have a system for these calculations). Support all internal and external audits related to payroll Interpret Awards and new legislation impacting payroll Address and resolve employee payroll queries promptly. Collaborate with People & Culture to ensure seamless payroll integration and operations. Participate in projects impacting payroll activities, providing insights and expertise. What we are looking for: 2 to 3 years' expereince in a similar role Demonstrated knowledge of all payroll processes and practices, including applicable state and national employment laws and regulations Strong understanding of Industrial Awards/Enterprise Agreements and legislative requirements Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and familiarity with payroll systems like Workday and ADP. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage conflict and apply policy effectively. Strong ethics, confidentiality, and attention to detail. Time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks. Continuous improvement mindset and adaptability in fast-paced settings.
