The position offers a challenging role in a dynamic and friendly team environment. We are looking for a level 1 Wintel Engineer based in Canberra on a permanent basis. Other locations may be considered. The successful candidate will be working with a team of support engineers to provide proactive server support to the Defence customer. You will be working with technology vendors such as Broadcom, Cisco, Nutanix and Microsoft. You will work with application support teams to diagnose issues between applications and the operating system.
To be considered for this role, you will need to hold a current NV1 or NV2. Responsibilities Have the ability to work within a 0700-1900 Monday to Friday roster including state only public holiday. Have the ability to work on a paid on-call roster once suitably trained. Support the client when required with paid overtime. Fully comply with customer training and security requirements. Perform daily health checks and resolve issues. Monitor issue resolution to ensure issues are resolved within contracted service level agreement times. Perform tasks and analysis within a formal problem management process. Assist with system changes, updates, upgrades and relocations. Implement and support virtualised server environments across a global network. Support Microsoft Server solutions and designs. Undertake technical deliverables with a focus on hypervisors, operating systems and their interaction with applications. Compile technical documentation where required. A hunger to learn from and mentor your peer group by either informal training or hands-on work. Skills & Experience Demonstrated knowledge and experience with Microsoft Server versions up to and including Server 2022 in an enterprise environment. Understanding of Active Directory. Ability to work in a high-pressure environment. Ability to work onsite. Experience with Virtualisation technologies including VMWare and Nutanix technologies, in both an operating and troubleshooting capacity. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Good spoken and written English. Good comprehension skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Have a good understanding of ITIL concepts and be able to explain the difference between an Incident, a problem, a change, and a request. Organisational and time management skills. Experience in an environment with a formal change management process, or the ability to demonstrate a sound understanding of their purpose.
