Position DetailsGroundsperson - Expression of InterestMater Dei College is looking for an expression of interest for a Groundsperson position. The College is seeking an enthusiastic, highly organised and experienced Groundsperson to maintain the aesthetic and functional integrity of our college grounds on an adhoc basis. This position will cover a staff member when leave is booked in or when a staff member is out on sick leave.Selection CriteriaThe successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:A high level of organisational and time management skills.The proven ability to communicate effectively, whilst supporting the Catholic ethos in the performance of their duties.The ability to work well both independently as well as in a team.Demonstrated experience in a school or a trades environment will be viewed favourably.The Groundsperson will be responsible for a variety of tasks that are inclusive of, but not limited to:Undertaking various maintenance and grounds requests and ensuring urgent and adhoc requests are fulfilled in a timely manner.Managing maintenance requests through the maintenance helpdesk in the absence of the Property Manager.Providing and maintaining a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety legislation.Ensuring College grounds are maintained in a clean, healthy, tidy state that provides staff and students with a safe external learning environment.Assisting in setting up venues for College activities, which may include movement of furniture, lighting requirements, and lock up procedures.Qualifications RequiredTerms of Employment:Hold a current Working with Children Check (WWC).Hold a current National Police Clearance from the Department of Education.Annually complete the online Child Protection Procedures and Mandatory Reporting Training.Hold or be working towards an Accreditation to Work in a Catholic School.Highly Desirable:Relevant experience in a grounds/maintenance team.Experience of working in a team environment with a demonstrated commitment to providing excellent customer service.Strong problem-solving skills, ability to prioritise with a high level of time management and organisational skills.Please contact with a copy of your resume, for your expression of interest in joining our grounds team on a casual/adhoc basis.Catholic Education Western Australia encourages applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with a disability, people of all ages, and people from culturally diverse backgrounds.
