The Key Duties Of The Position IncludeOur TeamThe Governance team sits within the Enabling Services Branch of Corporate Division.
We are responsible for a large remit of functions including internal audit, risk management (including compliance), fraud control, corporate performance, planning and reporting, committee secretariat, information and records management, business continuity and insurance arrangements.
The RoleProject Officer: Reporting to the Governance Director, the Project Officer will use knowledge of the PGPA Act, Commonwealth Reporting framework, and Commonwealth Risk Management framework to contribute to governance projects within the entity's transformation program of work.
The transformation program is designed to uplift how Geoscience Australia works and delivers on its vision for the future.
You will play an important role as the conduit between the Governance Director and the project team to produce results and provide administrative support to ensure compliance requirements and effective business planning, risk management and governance.
Aligning to the transformation program of work you will also work closely with the Governance Planning and Reporting Manager and the Governance Audit and Risk Manager to ensure compatibility and integration with existing, or future development of, governance processes.
In this role, you will have the exciting opportunity to assist with developing frameworks, performance metrics, enhancing risk management and reporting processes, and coordinating with stakeholders for improved corporate reporting and governance.
In addition, as a key leadership position within the team, the role may supervise staff in ad hoc pieces of work from time to time.
In This Role You WillSupport the business planning process to align to the Corporate Plan and reporting cyclesContribute to the design and development of consistent governance processes across the entity and look for future planning improvementsDevelop business planning and risk management templates and guidesInterpret and apply policies and legislation in relation to the PGPA Act and related Commonwealth Performance Framework and Risk Management FrameworkDevelop and manage relationships with a wide range of stakeholders in relation to effective corporate governanceBe an effective team member, and a crucial part of the Governance team.To Be Successful In The Role You Will HaveProven experience in project management, coordination activities and/or experience with planning and reporting in a Commonwealth Government entity, including business planning and/or risk management.Advanced knowledge of legislative frameworks and an understanding of the requirements of the PGPA Act and relevant Resource Management Guides (RMGs).The ability to build and maintain productive stakeholder relationships, including frequent liaison with internal business areas to provide advice and support to identify relevant content required for government planning and reporting and effective governance.The ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a large workload, to meet deadlines and achieve results.Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both written and verbal.The ability to contribute to the overall work of the section by working flexibly, including performing duties associated with other EL1 positions as required.Required Skills, Knowledge, Experience And/or QualificationsDemonstrated effective stakeholder and project management, communication and coordination skillsA high degree of personal integrity, honesty and the ability to maintain confidentiality.To ApplyPlease visit the careers page of our website to submit your application via our e-Recruit system.
