Our beautiful state population is continuously increasing. The same can however not be said about our rainfall. That is why we are investing in a new seawater desalination plant in Alkimos.
Our target is to have this operational by mid-2028. Adding a major source requires extensive and complex amendments to treat and move the additional water around the water network.
We require a permanent full-time Senior Technical Advisor – Integration Mechanical with a strong mechanical engineering or Trades based background to join the Conveyance Operational Integration team in Treatment and Resource Recovery (TARR).
You will provide water engineering and operational expertise to guide, deliver, and integrate programs of work with major impacts into the Integrated Water Supply Scheme (IWSS).
This role will focus on the mechanical aspects of the projects and IWSS system.
You will provide engineering and operations expertise to the new source’s suite of projects to achieve optimal outcomes for TARR and the wider Water Corporation.
Stakeholder engagement, bringing people together and negotiating better outcomes are needed for this role.

The fundamentals of the role:
Ensure the new source program provides a level of standardisation and coordination between the individual projects and Metropolitan water (Treatment and Resource Recovery) assets. These assets include but are not limited to; Pump Stations (PS), Pressure Reducing Valves (PRVs), Control valves, Isolation valves, pipelines, and dosing assets.
Ensure that asset whole of life, operability and maintainability are considered by new source Integration works.
Actively engage in the commissioning of individual projects associated with integration works and ensure that relevant contingency plans are developed, to inform constraints/operability considerations, such that the IWSS is a stable and robust system.
Provide specialised technical expertise to ensure the optimal performance of mechanical assets in the IWSS including valving, pump stations and control valves in the IWSS. There will be a strong focus on Pressure Reducing Valves (PRVs) and Pump Stations (PS) in the IWSS system.
Ensure compliance with all appropriate design standards and work practices. This includes Maintenance standards, mechanical standards, valve selection and considerations of operability of assets.
Ensure that adequate Quality Assurance (QA) processes are followed. These may involve Inspection and Test Plans (ITP’s), material data forms, maintenance plan. Ensure these are developed, completed to the required TARR standard(s) and that they are stored correctly for future access.
Ensures critical spares are updated as part of integration.
This role will be based in Osborne Park with opportunity to also work from our Kelmscott Depot.
Ideally, you will possess:
Tertiary qualification in engineering or related mechanical discipline or Trades based qualification with extensive experience with the operation and maintenance of water distribution assets.
Substantial experience in Operation and Maintenance of mechanical water distribution assets.
Substantial experience in stakeholder management on large projects.
Substantial experience in the preparation and review of complex technical reports and drawings.
Current ‘C’ Class Drivers Licence.
