The Learning Area Leader leads, develops and promotes the faculty academic program of the College. In collaboration with Teaching and Learning Executive, the Teaching and Learning Team and with subject teachers, the Learning Area Leader works to inspire more enthusiastic, effective teaching, through authentic learning experiences, innovation, passion and purpose.The role has overall responsibility for the leadership of the Visual Arts and Drama faculty ensuring exemplary teaching standards and learning outcomes for our students as they come to know the power of science and technologies and their interconnectivity in our world. The Learning Area Leader works closely with the Director of Music and oversees the team of teachers who contribute to a rich and diverse curriculum within their faculty, and has overall responsibility for the development and review of all curriculum documentation that further support the aims of the school and empowerment of our students as dynamic, curious and intelligent individuals.Specific to the Learning Area Leader - Visual Arts and Drama:Specialist knowledge, qualifications and teaching experience in one or more domains of Visual Arts and Drama, i.e. Visual Communication, Media, Studio Art, Drama.Foster continued creativity and innovation in the teaching of Visual Arts and Drama providing opportunities for all students to achieve success to ensure that Visual Arts and Drama remains a vibrant subject choice option for students.Demonstrate excellent stewardship in the management and promotion of the College's Arts and Performing Arts Facility.Actively work with the Assistant Principal - Teaching and Learning, colleagues and students in the preparation of art, performance and musical items.Oversee the extra-curricular activities in the performing arts showcases, assembly items, College musicals and productions, and College events, such as Open Day and Year 7 Orientation events.Applications are invited from suitably qualified collaborative, innovative and passionate emerging and experienced leaders. An ability to teach Visual Communications and Design including VCE Units 1-4 would be considered an advantage.The successful candidate for this position will commence January 2025. The leadership appointment is for a two year term, with an ongoing teaching position associated with these appointments.
