About the Business Unit Community Operations and Parole in Justice Services is responsible for providing central end-to-end oversight of the CCS service system and includes the Parole Central Unit, Community Correctional Services Practice Development and Review Branch, State-wide Community Work and Partnerships, System Integrity and Workforce Capability and Court Assessment and Prosecution Services Central Unit. Community Operations and Parole also includes the Adult Parole Board (the Board) Secretariat, which provides operational and administrative support to ensure the Board can perform its functions. The Board is an independent statutory body established under the Corrections Act 1986, with jurisdiction over the appropriate release of prisoners on parole. The Board is mandated to make decisions, under a statutory framework, about the reintegration of eligible prisoners into the community. The Board's paramount consideration is the safety and protection of the community. The Board's functions include making decisions about whether to grant, deny, defer, vary, or cancel a prisoner's parole. As a statutory entity, the Board has no inherent power and can only perform functions under legislation. About the Role The Communications Manager is responsible for the Board's communications and media, including developing and implementing priority tasks to deliver optimised communication outcomes. As the Communications Manager, some of your duties will include: Developing and implementing communication strategies by delivering targeted communication action plans in line with and to further business objectives and operational needs. Leading and delivering the Board's Annual Report in accordance with legislative requirements, including planning the report in consultation with the Board's Chairperson and Chief Administrative Officer and writing, collating and reviewing content. Managing the Board's media policy, including anticipating and monitoring media, providing strategic advice to the Chairperson and Chief Administrative Officer, carefully communicating information and responding to media enquiries, and liaising with key stakeholders. About you To be successful in this role, you will have: Demonstrated experience and ability in the development of communication strategies, with the capacity to deliver effective communication programs. Demonstrated experience in effectively liaising with stakeholders, including media, and the ability to provide high quality information and advice in relation to complex communication issues. A great attention to detail, strong editing skills and ability to mentor others to promote a culture of writing excellence, and significant experience in developing, writing and proofing communication materials for print and digital mediums. Demonstrated experience working with designers, including preparing briefs and managing the design process.
