The Company
Our client is a thriving non-profit organization with an annual turnover of approximately $80 million. They are seeking a talented and dedicated Financial Accountant to join their dynamic team. This role will initially be on an interim basis, providing an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to demonstrate their skills and fit within the organization. There is a potential for this interim position to transition into a permanent role, offering stability and growth within a supportive and mission-driven environment.
The ideal candidate will bring a blend of technical accounting expertise and a passion for contributing to the impactful work of a leading non-profit organization.
Position Type
6-month temporary position on an hourly rate with the potential to extend or permanent employment. Ideally you are immediately available as this role requires you to start in July.
The Role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, your main responsibilities will include:
1. Balance Sheet Reconciliations, Prepayments, Provisions, and Accruals
2. Maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register
3. Grant Acquittals and Allocations
4. Daily Cashflow Forecasting
5. Assistance with Month-End / Year-End
6. Posting Journals
7. Assisting with Audits
8. Assisting with BAS and Tax Compliance
9. Being a Backup for AP/AR
10. Assisting with Other Core Financial Accounting Tasks
About you
11. Bachelor of Accounting/Commerce or equivalent.
12. Ideally CA or CPA Qualified or in process of obtaining
13. Proven experience in a similar role
14. Intermediate Excel skills
15. A willingness to "roll up the sleeves" and do whatever is required to support the effective running of the Finance Department
16. A willingness to be a back-up for transactional finance tasks
17. Strong attention to detail
18. A good understanding of financial accounting principles
19. A team player, adding to a positive team culture
