Statewide Services is seeking to appoint a motivated and committed Teacher to join the Service Allocation Prioritisation and Coordination branch within the Service Planning and Coordination Directorate.
The Service Planning and Coordination (SPC) Directorate provides the systems and processes that enable an integrated model of support to schools, which enables them to access the services and advice they need to address their student achievement challenges. Family and Interagency Response in Education (FAIRE) is a multidisciplinary team within the SPC Directorate, that provides short-term intensive support to students presenting with the most complex needs and their families, as well as planning support to schools and regions, where required.
Service provision can include identifying areas of need with families and supporting engagement with external services, partnering with services to increase the effectiveness of wraparound support, collaboration with key stakeholders and services to allow consistent support, collaboration with regional services staff to identify and respond to complex needs, and connecting Aboriginal families and young people with culturally appropriate agencies and supports.
The Role
The suitable applicant would work within the multidisciplinary team, consisting of a Program Coordinator, Social Workers, Teachers and Aboriginal Youth Support Coordinators. This team provides support to referred students with complex needs, working with families, schools, Education Regional Office staff, Statewide Services branches and external agencies.
Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Teacher role is responsible for engaging with students and their families; liaison between home and school settings; supporting schools to develop supportive learning environments, including trauma-informed practice; collaborating with education stakeholders; supporting student transitions between school settings; supporting individual case coordination; and providing educational expertise to external support agencies and services. Teachers provide support to the Program Coordinator with team processes and development of materials and resources.
The role is based at Statewide Services in Padbury and involves home, school, and external agency visits. It includes travel to regional areas, with state-wide travel requiring overnight stays, long-distance driving, and air travel, some of which may be to remote locations. Applicants must hold a current and valid “C” class driver’s license.
