Your New Role- Customs Broker
This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced Customs Broker with extensive knowledge in customs brokering to step into a leadership role within a rapidly expanding business.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Maintaining the day-to-day customs clearance functions and processes in line with company performance expectations, standards and strict KPIs
* Ensuring compliance with ABF, AQIS and other government agencies
* Handle customs-related issues, such as customs inspections, customs duty disputes, and delays in customs clearance. Resolve problems efficiently and effectively.
* Prepare customs documentation and ensure that shipments meet all applicable laws to facilitate the import and export of goods.
* Determine and track duties and taxes payable and process payments on client's behalf.
* Coordinate transportation and storage of imported goods.
* Attending client enquiries relating to tariff classification of goods, rates of duty, tariff concession orders, methods of valuation and origin requirements of the Customs Act.
* Keep up to date with current customs and AQIS industry changes and trends.
* Applying for tariff concessions including preparing refund/duty drawbacks
* Liaising and supporting internal stakeholders to ensure quality customer experiences are maintained.
* Prepare and review customs documentation, including import and export declarations, invoices, and shipping manifests. Maintain accurate records of all transactions.
What you'll need to succeed:
* 3-5 years’ experience as a Customs Broker.
* Strong work experience in end-to-end brokerage functions.
* Strong knowledge of Australian customs laws, regulations, and procedures.
* Experience using CargoWise software / platform.
* Excellent understanding of tariff classification, valuation, and customs duty calculation.
* Proficiency in customs documentation preparation and record-keeping.
* Familiarity with trade agreements, tariff concessions, and preferential trade arrangements.
* Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Experience in logistics or freight forwarding industry.
* Excellent attention to detail & accuracy.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Good organizational and time management skills
* Ability to work independently and take initiative.
* Proficient Microsoft Office & Excel skills.
