DFV Child and Adolescent Counsellor - Senior Practitioner
Are you passionate about making communities safer for women and their children? As part of our Domestic Family Violence Specialist Support, we need you to join our team of dedicated professionals, helping to maximise their impact on the lives of vulnerable children and adolescents who need it most.
54 reasons is Australia's leading child rights organisation - no ordinary not-for-profit.
Proudly part of the Save the Children Australia Group and global movement, we're here to make sure that everyone understands their rights. So that children and young people have their rights met and thrive, in all their diversity.
We champion the children, young people and families we work with. We are inspired by the curiosity and creativity of children and motivated by the love of those who care for them.
With the child's voice at the centre, we provide quality services to children and their caregivers, advocating with them so that children develop, learn, and are connected, safe and confident. Our people are proudly local, reflective of the communities we serve - in every state and territory, and across regions, remote areas and capital cities.
A place to make a difference:
In this full-time, permanent role, you'll focus on provision of a range of specialist interventions to children and young people who have witnessed or have been victims of domestic and/or family violence and sexual abuse. Based in Mount Isa, you'll be a key part of our Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Service.
You will make a difference by:
* Providing holistic case management, delivering support to vulnerable and disadvantaged clients and supporting relationships
* Identifying strengths, establishing goals for the program and reviewing client progress
* Promoting skills which increase health, safety and development
* Ensuring the voices of children and young people are heard
* Enhancing stakeholder relationships and partnerships with the view of providing clients with support that will help them to address their needs
* Working collaboratively within a small team to deliver best practice to women and children who are experiencing DFV
A place to feel valued:
You're an experienced child and adolescent practitioner who is passionate about supporting families within a child centred, strengths-based framework. Importantly, you have a strong understanding of the impact of trauma on children and their families and you're keenly aware of the additional impacts and barriers experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
Bringing your best every day means having:
* Demonstrated experience in case management and knowledge of relevant legislation
* Knowledge and previous experience working in the Domestic and Family Violence or closely related human services context
* Demonstrated experience and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and families
* Strong report writing, analytical and evaluation skills, including data collection and analysis
* Tertiary qualification in a relevant field and/or significant experience working in a similar service
