The Role The Assistant Director Parliamentary and Ministerial Coordination sits within Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator's (ASCA) Strategy and Operations Branch, will work across ASCA Branches, and with other Defence groups and services to coordinate and support delivery of quality input on a range of enterprise-level, parliamentary and Ministerial briefs.
The role supports quality assurance and movement of briefs, submissions, question briefs, responses to Questions on Notice, liaising across ASCA and other key stakeholder areas including Ministerial and Executive Coordination and Communication (MECC).
About our Team The Strategy and Governance Directorate, Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator (ASCA), is responsible for helping shape Defence and government innovation, technology and industry policy and monitoring and reporting ASCA's implementation of actions to deliver these (e.g.
Defence Industry Development Strategy).
It is responsible for Parliamentary and Ministerial activities, including Question Brief, Senate Estimate Briefs, Ministerial Advice, and will lead the development and delivery of ASCA's annual update to Government.
The Directorate is also responsible for ASCA's governance function including secretariat support for ASCA's Oversight Committee and External Advisory Board, and providing ASCA's input into corporate planning and performance and risk reporting.
It works with Defence Science and Technology Group (DSTG) to engage and support ASCA involvement in international innovation activities and relationships.
Our Ideal Candidate You understand Parliament and its processes, Senate Estimates, Question Time and Cabinet.
You have a sound working knowledge of PDMS, other MECC guidance tools and processes, and preferably CabNet+.
You have a strategic understanding of the impact of parliamentary and ministerial processes to ASCA and Defence.
You are self-driven, outcome focussed, with exceptional relationship skills.
You have strong communication skills and the ability to synthesis information to suit the target audience.
You will co-supervising an APS 6 officer.
