We’re seeking a professional who wants to join a team that has industrial hygiene and occupational health and safety down to a science.Stantec’s Western region has an exciting career opportunity for an experienced Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or Registered Occupational Hygienist (ROH).Reporting to the Director of Industrial Hygiene and Health and Safety Consulting Services, your responsibilities may include but won’t necessarily be limited to:Your Key ResponsibilitiesAdvising on occupational hygiene, indoor air quality issues, noise concerns, and other potential exposure issues including assessment, sampling and monitoring when required, analysis of sampling/laboratory results, reporting and follow-up.Managing industrial hygiene and other hazardous materials projects from the proposal stage, including process/facility/client research, client meetings, preparation of budget, scope and specifications to the project execution and completion stage, including staff and resource allocation, development of work plans and health and safety plans, coordination with client and field technicians, coordination of sample submission, equipment allocation, reporting, report review and client follow-up.Conducting occupational health and safety compliance audits and gap analyses for various clients.Providing occupational health and safety management system consulting services including the preparation of documentation for various program elements including programs, safe work practices and procedures.Completing technical review of proposals and reports prior to submission for senior management review prior to submitting to the client.Completing field work as required, including IH assessments, indoor air quality assessments, monitoring and inspection services for mould remediations and asbestos abatements.Providing training on various occupational health and safety topics including, but not limited to Asbestos Awareness, Noise and Hearing Conservation, Construction Safety, OH&S Responsibilities, and Respiratory Protection and Fit Testing, to various clients and Stantec employees.Contacting existing and new clients to ensure their needs are met and to develop new business opportunities.Keeping abreast of current industry knowledge, guidelines, and applicable legislation, interpret Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) legislation and effectively communicate requirements and responsibilities to management.Accurately interpreting, applying and explaining applicable codes, legal regulations, policies and procedures, making decisions within established guidelines.Leading pursuits for industrial hygiene and occupational health and safety opportunities.Monitoring, mentoring, and leading the growth of team members.Providing field coordination and technical oversight of projects.Supporting indoor air quality assessment and hazardous building materials assessment and abatement projects.Working with and supporting the International Stantec IH/HSSE Team.QualificationsYour Capabilities and CredentialsCIH or ROH certification, with registration or working towards certification as a Canadian Registered Safety Professional a plus.Certification/Qualification in the field of auditing an asset.Certification/Qualification in the field of Environmental Management Systems an asset.Experience must include the following:Lead Field TechnicianBusiness developmentTechnical oversightProject Management or Project CoordinationMust be able to work as a member of a team but also independently.Must be willing to travel independently, often times overnight and for a number of days.Effectively communicate verbally and written with existing company clients and internal Stantec staff.Strong writing skills are a must to prepare reports, proposal and other project deliverables.A strong desire to grow in your career with Stantec.Valid Drivers License and satisfactory driving recordEducation and ExperienceMinimum of a Bachelor’s degree in natural or environmental science from a recognized post-secondary institution.
