About this Opportunity

You will be providing high-level technical support for the voice and data network systems, creating and maintaining network documentation, maintaining hardware and software standards, and working on projects as needed in order to upgrade to new and/or improved communication equipment and procedures.
Ideal Candidate
In this vital role, you will be entrusted with several key responsibilities:
* Provide leadership during major network incidents and ensure that services are restored as quickly as possible, escalating when required, ensuring all stakeholders are kept up to date on networks status.
* To capacity plan and evaluate new technologies in order to provide cost estimates, including benefits, for input to the capital budget planning process.
* To look for opportunities in reducing network running expenses and determine and provide running costs of network infrastructure for expense budget planning.
* Liaise with contractors and service providers to assess their availability and provide cost of services
* To ensure all aspects of the network are thoroughly documented and to maintain these documents and network diagrams for easy reference and be easily accessible for relevant GBS staff members.
What We Look For:
We believe the right candidate possesses the following qualities and skills:
* Experience and strong knowledge of LAN/WAN design infrastructure, IP Telephony architecture and network security design including areas such as DMZs, IDS, VPNs and firewalls.
* Strong experience and knowledge of telecommunications concepts and knowledge of legacy telecommunications systems.
* Experience in installing, supporting, maintaining and capacity planning all network hardware and software infrastructure, such as Cisco routers, Ethernet switches, gateways, firewalls, video and audio conferencing systems according to best practices.
* Knowledgeable in application transport and network infrastructure protocols and possess an understanding of how to support these applications/protocols when accessed through VPNs and firewall appliances.
* Strong understanding and practical experience with routing protocols such as RIP, EIGRP, BGP and OSPF and network standards such as MPLS and 802.11 and 802.1x authentication standards.
