ABOUT THE ROLE
The primary purpose of the Equipment / Maintenance Supervisor is to ensure that the site complies with all the client, regulatory and company responsibilities, including safety, through the effective maintenance of plant and equipment at the site. This includes in the site workshop and also in field maintenance and preventative maintenance. They will be required to prepare and maintain all stevedoring lifting gear to Australian Standards. They are required to maintain the Gearstore, ensuring it is in an orderly manner and to guarantee that all stevedoring gear is issued and checked before and after use.

Specific Responsibilities
* Conduct and or supervise all aspects of the site’s maintenance operations
* Use and supervise use of the Mainpac system to monitor maintenance needs and compliance
* Coordinate preventative maintenance and repair activities for all Qube trucks, trailers, light vehicles and other plant and equipment
* Work closely with transport manager to ensure availability and timely repair of heavy vehicle fleet
* Participate in after hours on call breakdown if required
* Assist to determine the defect priority for repairs and work requests
* Keep the National Workshop Manager informed of any issues preventing Scheduled Maintenance from being carried out
* Ensure that safety hazards and risks relating to workplace are identified and controlled
* Ensure required parts are available for the scheduled repairs / maintenance
* Assist coordinate, service, inspect and repair earthmoving plant
* Address any day-to-day issues that arise in the workplace, or refer them to the National Equipment Manager if unable to resolve
* Ensure all lifting gear is maintained to Australian Standards
* Ensure Contractors are properly engaged including Qube safety systems, and adequate supervision and monitoring is in place to meet requirements
* Check all lifting gear and components for wear and damage at least once per month or as equipment is returned to the gear store after use – all faults shall be recorded. All damaged equipment shall be placed “Out of Service” until necessary repairs are made
* To provide stevedoring gear required by Shift Managers in accordance with an order for the required lifting/spreader beams and components which will include Safe Working Loads required for lifts
* To ensure that equipment from the Gearstore is removed only with the authorization of the Supervisor or the appointed Person in Charge
* To ensure that the appropriate certificates are supplied for each item of stevedoring gear
* To ensure all stevedoring gear is recorded in a Gear Register
* To ensure that all gear recorded in the Gear Register is regularly inspected
* To maintain the Gearstore and its contents in a clean, orderly and professional manner
* To check all equipment prior to placing it in the Gearstore for damage and defects
* Maintain a gear register for any equipment leaving the site
* Ensure all gear is inspected by a third party as per National / Qube standards
* Provide continual improvement of stevedoring practices for increased safety and productivity
Qualifications and Experience
* Minimum 3 years in similar role
* Trade qualification as heavy truck mechanic / diesel fitter
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of people and cultures
* Intermediate keyboard and computer experience using Microsoft Outlook
* Ability to work autonomously using proactive approach to task resolution
* Ability to be flexible and adaptable to work in a demanding environment
* Must have a doggers and/or riggers ticket
* Knowledge of cargo handling procedures associated with wires, chains and slings.
* Effective oral, listening, communication and negotiation and conflict resolution skills
* Ability to plan, direct, monitor, lead and control a specified work group to carry out designated tasks
* Written communication skills
* Visual perception skills
* Sound literacy and numeracy skills
* Ability to work at heights.
