A position exists for a temporary part-time Youth Worker, 50 hours per fortnight or (0.66 FTE) at Gracemere State School. As the Youth Worker, you will refer at-risk students to appropriate agencies and support services that will assist students to overcome barriers to their education. This role requires a strong commitment to student well-being, working collaboratively with school staff, families, and external agencies to support engagement and positive outcomes.The ideal candidate will excel in building meaningful relationships, identifying barriers to student success, and implementing targeted support strategies. They will play a key role in enhancing school attendance, promoting resilience, and ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive.Key Responsibilities IncludeWorking as part of a professional team, liaising with students, teachers, parents, guidance officers, special needs teachers, administrative officers, welfare agencies, and other government departments to support student well-being.Overseeing the attendance policy to identify students experiencing problems, allowing for early intervention before issues escalate.Building connections between the school and families of students with persistent absences to encourage continuous attendance and assist students in determining their educational needs, including home visits with students and their families to advise and provide strategies for a positive educational experience.Identifying and providing appropriate assistance to students facing difficulties at school and/or home, which may put them at risk of leaving school prematurely.Maintaining spreadsheets, databases, and accurate records of student interactions and interventions. OneSchool experience desirable.Developing and implementing programs that address social skills, assertiveness, self-esteem, and related areas to promote positive educational outcomes.Contributing to a positive, caring, and supportive school image in the community.Interested?
