We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Technical Services Specialist to join our Operations and Maintenance team in Melbourne or Brisbane on a full time permanent basis.
The Technical Services team are responsible for Emergency Preparedness of APA operational assets. We achieve this with the right people, processes and equipment.
Reporting to the Team Leader Technical Services, you will play a key role in providing operational support for critical field activities including Emergency Response, Repair & Recovery, In-Service Welding and Hot Tap and Stopping.
The location for this role is flexible and hybrid; we will consider locations in Melbourne or Brisbane.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide welding engineering and technical support to emergency incidents and training programs.
* Provide support for the development and delivery of national In-Service processes and procedures for In-Service Works (Pipeline Welding, Hot Tap & Stop and Repair & Recovery).
* Coordinate and manage multiple Welding, Hot Tapping and Repair & Recovery projects
* Manage contractors, consultants and suppliers who supply Welding, Hot Tapping and Repair & Recovery products and services.
* Coordinate contractors and repair equipment for unplanned or emergency repairs. In some cases provide on-site supervision and technical support.
* Where required, perform assigned role in Emergency Management Team (EMT) in the event of an emergency incident.
* Carry out regular audits and organise maintenance of APA’s fleet of emergency repair tools and equipment.
* Deliver assigned business improvement projects for Operations, including regular progress updates on delivery against project plan and schedule.
Your background
* Welding Engineering (IWE) certification or similar is desirable
* Engineering background preferred, however, Mechanical/Welding Trade background is acceptable
* Ability to communicate with internal/external stakeholders and employees at all levels in the business.
* Comfortable with a combination of office and field based work.
* Pipeline industry experience is desirable (pipeline construction, commissioning, operation and maintenance).
* Knowledge and experience in pipeline welding, hot tap & stoppling and repair & recovery processes is desirable.
* Understanding of essential elements of emergency management, in-field repair techniques and repair equipment.
* Knowledge or ability to apply relevant industry Regulations, Codes, Licenses and Acts, specifically AS2885.
* Demonstrated computer skills and experience with MS Office software.
