A new, permanent opportunity for a Network Security Engineer is now available at Coles.
Reporting to the Security Technologies Team Lead, the primary function of this role will include the delivery of IT projects and perform operational activities across a range of security technologies such as:
* NextGen Firewalls, Secure Web Gateway (SASE), Web filtering (SSL inspection), IPSEC/SSL VPNs, network access control, ADC/Web Application Firewalls, DoS protections, Email Security, Endpoint Protection (EDR), DLP & CASB
* Strategic planning and new initiatives
* Participate in and influence security-centric design constructs & paradigms
* Liaise with application architecture, development and information security teams to revise develop and maintain appropriate security posture in line with IT Security standards.
* Be a change agent providing leadership, inspiration and creativity around operational processes and procedures.
* Perform network-centric security risk assessments for IT activities and projects.
* Perform operational duties
* Subject Matter Expert (SME) support on one or more security technology platform, troubleshoot infrastructure or security incidents exploiting tools
* When necessary, participate in major incident response activity
* Contribute to the cyclical improvement of processes and procedures to assure security enforcement and platform health.
* Upkeep of security platforms (patching, upgrade, performance monitoring & tuning)
* Operational oversight on Change Management, Patch Management and support documentation quality control.
* Participate in rostered 7-day on-call on a 10 week cycle.
* Creating and maintain automation and integration with the technologies
About you & your skills
Proven years security technology experience:
* With expert experience of deploying and managing enterprise security tooling in at least one + solid exposure & at least two of the following in: NextGen Firewalls, Secure Web Gateway (SASE), Web filtering (SSL inspection), IPSEC / SSLVPNs, network access control and VPNs (SSL/IPSEC/App Based), ADC/Web Application Firewalls, Enterprise email filtering inc anti SPAM anti fraud (eg DMARC/SPF/DKIM), Endpoint Protection (EPP/EDR),, DLP, CASB, DoS protections.
* Experience with using automation during deployment and management, this may include Bash, Python, Ansible, Azure Devops, Terraform, REST APIs.
* Cloud infrastructure experience, ideally in Azure but would consider GCP as well.
* DevOps or DevSecOps experience
* Experience with infrastructure-as-code CI/CD and API Security
* High understanding of the following technologies/practices: cryptography, PKI and CA’s, deep packet inspection, security threat investigations and risk assessments.
* Solid understanding in network security frameworks (SANS, NIST, ASD, Mitre ATT&CK, OWASP), principles, disciplines and infrastructure.
* Hands-on configuration and troubleshooting experience on data centre-grade security platforms like those specified above.
* Advantage to have experience in large corporate business environments and associated change rigour.
* Solid practice and experience in network security audit processes and the ability to perform network-centric risk assessments/recommendations, encryption protocols, PKI principles, analysis & data mining skills.
* A solid understanding of general switching fundamentals (trunking, link aggregation etc) and a working knowledge of routing principals particularly BGP.
* Solid grasp of cloud and Agile paradigms: IaaS, PaaS, Containers, SaaS, DevSecOps, SASE
