About the Business
Our Communications and Engagement team provide services and advice across a range of areas, including internal and external promotions, media and risk management, sector and stakeholder engagement, events, social media, graphic and multimedia design, website and intranet content.
Role Details
The Digital Accessibility and Content Consultant is a role within Communications and Engagement and is accountable to the Digital Communications Lead for:
1. Implementing the Department’s key targets for inclusive design and accessibility by staying up to date with new developments and trends from the wider industry, vendors and platforms, and communicate these within the department and cross-government where possible.
2. Liaising with stakeholders across the Department to facilitate client-centric digital content to deliver a positive client experience while maintaining the Disability Action Inclusion Plan (DAIP) accessibility requirements.
3. Developing and implementing the creation of digital content that aligns with the current prescribed Web Content Accessibility Guidelines alongside reviewing web templates to make certain they meet the default level of compliance.
4. Reviewing and publishing content to DHS websites as requested and update accessibility changes to approved content.
5. Providing advice to the Digital Communications team by assisting with internal tasks and processes.
Key outcomes and accountabilities:
1. Provide timely, quality advice, support and training to key stakeholders, including senior management on digital accessibility and inclusive design in line with the Department’s main branding elements.
2. Develop, review and continuously improve web content and templates against the current Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
3. Develop and maintain close working relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders alongside coordinating working groups and consultations to facilitate an exchange of information.
4. Deliver high-quality digital content and communications.
5. Maintain professionalism and a commitment to respectful interactions with colleagues and stakeholders.
6. Undertake reporting and continually improve accessible content and communications through informed analysis.
Note: Any other responsibilities in line with the classification level of the role as assigned by Line Manager and/or the Department. The responsibilities as specified above may be altered in accordance with the changing requirements of the role.

Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience within the fields of digital marketing, web development, accessibility and user experience as well as proven experience of work within a similar accessibility role and experience within government is highly regarded.

Screening Checks
If you are new to the department and are invited to an interview, you will be required to produce a National Police Check, which has been issued within six months of your application for the role. National Police Checks can be applied for via the South Australia Police or through an Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission accredited body. If the role you are applying for also requires an Employment-related Screening Check, you will be required to undergo such assessment as is advised by DHS, including periodic assessment during your employment.
