What's the role? Are you a creative thinker who can produce best-in-class content that excites brands and customers? An innovator who dreams of working with Australia's leading brands in a dynamic business? Medium Rare is looking for an Associate Content Director, leading a team to ideate and create high-quality commercial content for Qantas and its partners. You'll take a leadership role in Rare Creative, the agency's energetic and fast-growing branded content studio, managing branded content output and mentoring a team of direct reports. Having held senior roles in digital or print publishing (at a media company, agency or brand), you'll be comfortable commissioning and editing editorial copy of the highest standard, from travel to business, food and wine, lifestyle and technology. You'll think like a publisher/journalist and, at the same time, a marketer - ensuring rich content aligns with commercial objectives and performance. You'll be joining a growing business with a flexible working environment offering stability, balance and great culture. This is a hybrid role, based in our Sydney office but with the opportunity to work part of your week remotely. Key responsibilities: - Lead the branded content team in Rare Creative, balancing multiple concurrent projects and managing a team of in-house content editors and freelance resources. - Ideate and produce high-quality print executions, digital copy, social media assets and video concepts and scripts. - Commission and edit commercial content for Qantas magazine, Qantas Travel Insider and Qantas social channels, taking top-editing responsibility for team output to ensure quality. - Scale up resourcing as required, while managing costs/team budgets. - Work closely with clients to agree on concepts, execute them within editorial guidelines and liaise on revisions. An exceptional eye for detail is essential. - Use social media channels and email newsletters to amplify content - maximising engagement but also driving action. Maintain a monthly social media schedule, compiling captions and visual assets tailored to drive clicks and engagement on each platform. - Ideate, research and write across a broad range of topics, including travel, business, food and wine, style, technology and home and garden, and keep a close eye on trends in these areas. - Work with the Rare Creative team to develop and pitch cross-platform creative concepts to help win briefs and new business. This includes working closely with the strategy and insights team on ideas, assisting in proposal writing and working with the design team to direct creation of mock-ups. We're looking for someone with big cross-channel ideas who can confidently share these with clients in presentations and sales meetings. Who are you? - At least five years' experience as a senior editor or content lead at a media publisher, agency or brand. We need someone with skills to tell a story across all channels, so solid experience in print, digital and social content is essential. - Proven leadership skills. You know how to get the best out of your team and are confident directing and mentoring talent. - High-level organisational skills and demonstrated experience juggling multiple deadlines and concurrent projects. - Excellent communications skills to work with both sales and creative teams, as well as driving positive and productive conversations with clients and stakeholders. - You're an innovator with a love of learning. You're always looking for new ways to wow clients and drive results. - Extensive commissioning and copy editing experience, as well as the ability to manage freelance writers and subs within an editorial budget. - Ability to think visually and direct visual assets, including social content, videos and ad creative. - Up-to-date knowledge of all social media platforms, best practice and specifications. You will know what will perform best on Instagram Stories vs Reels vs Tiktok, how to supercharge click-throughs and make sure content is optimised to perform on each platform. - Experience writing presentations and pitches is preferred but not essential. - Knowledge of SEO research and writing is advantageous.
