Drug Health Services provides a range of counselling and psychological interventions in a safe and caring environment. The primary aim of the Community Counselling and Intake Team is to reduce drug related harm and provide a high standard of clinical care to those that access Drug Health Services.
What You'll Be Doing
The primary purpose of this role is to provide leadership, guidance, support and line management to the clinical operations of the Community Counselling and Intake Team within Drug Health Services. This team is responsible for providing:
a community based counselling service for people with drug and alcohol issues, and
the coordination and management of the centralised intake service for Drug Health Services.
This position is designed to support the strategic clinical directions of the allied health workforce through developing the capacity of the workforce to identify and reduce drug related harm.
Act as a senior ambassador of the service by maintaining partnerships and service agreements with key stakeholders, including Local Courts, Local Area Commands, Justice Health and Government and Non-Government agencies.
Develop, monitor and review clinical competency frameworks for clinicians.
Act as an educator for the allied health workforce.
Work in conjunction with key medical, nursing and support staff to provide operational and strategic direction and advice on clinical practice, education and research.
This position may also incorporate having a small clinical case load, where the successful applicant would have to provide assessments, evidence based interventions, case management and counselling type services.

Tertiary qualification as a Registered Psychologist, Social Worker, Counsellor, or Welfare Officer, which provides eligibility for membership with a professional organisation and or current registration with AHPRA where applicable.
Demonstrated advanced clinical skills in assessment, case management and counselling within a drug and alcohol service.
Demonstrated advanced knowledge of the harm reduction approach to drug and alcohol issues and demonstrated experience in the provision of interventions with drug dependent clients.
Demonstrated experience in managing a multidisciplinary team of clinicians providing drug and alcohol interventions.
Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical supervision to staff and or students.
High level communication skills including the ability to prepare statistical and technical reports.
Demonstrated experience in leading quality improvement initiatives.
Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C-class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
