Operations Leader
Reporting to the General Manager of Production Operations, this role is responsible for driving the overall performance of the Truganina Print Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Customer
* Responsible for all internal and external queries relating to quality, quantity and timeliness of delivery of our products
* A key point of contact for Masthead communication on any product changes or amendments
* A key contributor to integrating and prioritising new products into the production schedule
2. Financial
* Responsible for developing and managing the Print Centre budget, including quarterly forecasting and reporting to senior leadership
* Management of controllable costs: Examples include Engagement activities, Annual / LSL Leave, Labour Management (inc. Headcount, Overtime, Casual hours), Waste management, cleaning
* Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives. Examples include process improvement changes, roster optimisation, production changes, and restructuring
3. Operational
* Responsible for throughput performance/copies per hour
* Optimising the output of our equipment is fundamental to not only producing our current production schedule but also in being able to deliver new products in the future
* Responsible for equipment reliability by ensuring programmed maintenance is scheduled, labour is appropriately allocated and breakdowns are resolved in a timely fashion
* Manage risks, (industrial, financial, operational, HSS, etc) ensuring compliance with all regulatory and statutory obligations
* Oversee root cause analysis and implement appropriate solutions, for example, web breaks
* Jointly accountability (with Logistics) for on time truck deliveries
* Drive a high performance culture that always looks to continually improve our product lifecycle, from when the files arrive at our Print Center
4. People
* Lead Safety by example

* We are focussed on ensuring that our behaviours support a culture of zero harm and we hold ourselves to account through the reporting of TRIFR, hazards, Incidents, preventative safety, regulatory compliance and 360 conversations
* As the accountable person at site, you will be required to lead the response to any serious or high potential incidents and take action as a result of any internal or regulator directed corrections
* Effective and timely communication is critical as an Operations Leader
* Whether this is for implementing changes, managing performance or driving employee engagement your approach to communication should be structured, impactful and relevant to the audience you are communicating with
Requirements
* Continuous improvement should be a habit not a once off exercise Identifying new opportunities to improve your operation must be an inherent skill that you have
* Exceptional business acumen and the ability to forecast market trends (peaks and troughs) will be critical in exceeding cost and operational targets
* Critical thinking and problem solving in an operational setting
* Exceptional at building relationships and influencing executive stakeholders
* High level of resilience, and able to manage and mitigate resistance
* The ability to communicate to front line employees and senior executives
* Inspirational, trustworthy and dependable
Experience
* Proven track record leading a medium to large operational site with heavy machinery/equipment
* End-to-end product life cycle experience – from creation through to customer delivery
* Leadership of 100+ employees ideally across multiple trades and levels of competency
* Business Acumen and previously accountable for P/L and Budget
