Risk Manager - Market, Liquidity, and Counterparty Credit RiskJob Summary: The incumbent will lend in developing and promoting a "Best in Class" risk oversight environment associated with RBC Australia Capital Markets business and activities including Global Markets (FICC, Global Equities, Central Funding Group, Treasury Services), Global Investment Banking and Corporate Banking and broader Treasury businesses and activities within Asia Pacific region.What is the opportunity? The Market and Counterparty Credit Risk team provides independent and effective trading floor monitoring, controlling and communicating on the nature and extent of all material market, trading credit risks and liquidity risk and to ensure the implementation of and compliance with risk management policies and procedures.What will you do?Risk oversight: market risk (both trading and banking book), traded credit risk and liquidity risk positions.Market Risk: Assist in risk related queries, market risk exposures and deal analysis, drill down and/or risk trend analysis. Conduct ad-hoc analysis of market risk sensitivities generated by trading activities, with particular focus on key drivers contributing to profit and loss, and ensure these insights are communicated effectively, including to senior stakeholders.Counterparty Credit Risk: Facilitate time-sensitive transactions for traded credit risk within delegated authorities.Balance Sheet and Liquidity Risk: Reviews and challenges liquidity risk and balance sheet structural risk (Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book), i.e. risk appetite and limit proposal, cash flow projection and liquidity stress testing including parameter reviews, contingency funding plan and annual testing, fungibility and early warning indicators.Stakeholder management: Liaise closely with Front Office to detail risk exposures and challenge the business on risk exposures, limit utilization threshold and breaches; Lead monthly risk reviews with Front Office, offering constructive challenges and guidance to ensure alignment with risk limits and strategic objectives.Internal communication: Facilitate risk communication by collaborating with relevant teams to ensure clear communication of market risk, counterparty credit and liquidity risk exposures and make well-informed recommendations to senior management, including the Head of Market & Counterparty Credit Risk APAC.Projects: Support and contribute to key projects related to Market & Counterparty Credit Risk in Australia, aligning these projects with the bank’s overall risk management strategy, and driving successful execution and delivery.Control environment: Develops and implements comprehensive market and liquidity risk management framework and policies aligned with regulatory requirements, industry best practices and group framework and policies by identifying the area of improvements.What do you need to succeed?Must-have: Bachelor degree in Business Administration, Finance or quantitative discipline.Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience in risk oversight/management preferably with Traded Market and/or Credit Risk, Capital Markets, Stress Testing, IRRBB and/or Policy Oversight, preferably in Australia.Understanding of mathematical principles underlying the value of financial products.Delivery and accountability of Traded Risk related initiatives.Ability to work in a team and individually and partnering with external groups to achieve results.Proficient analytical and problem-solving skills and high attention to detail.Self-confidence and assertiveness in dealing with senior management in both Risk and Business and other stakeholders.Ability to work flexibly according to needs within Asia Pacific regions.Nice-to-have: Postgraduate degree such as MBA, MA, MS or equivalent quantitative emphasis in finance, statistics, econometric or other relevant discipline, or professional qualification such as CFA, FRM etc. is desired. Industry liquidity risk and balance sheet knowledge and experience within Asia Pacific (Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, China), or relevant domain experience within treasury and liquidity i.e. money market products, credit lending and/or deposits.Related traded risk, treasury or balance sheet experience i.e Recovery and Resolution Plan, accounting standards, Funds Transfer Pricing, Fundamental Review of Trading Book experience.
