ROLE OVERVIEW This role will lead the delivery of exceptional, evidence-based nursing care to ensure outstanding clinical outcomes and an industry-leading patient experience. As a hospital leader, this position is accountable for the Ward's performance across key domains: patient safety and quality, staff well-being and safety, financial management, and operational efficiency. As the Nurse Unit Manager, you will be responsible for: Leading and providing evidence-based, person-centered care through comprehensive assessment, care planning, implementation, and timely evaluation of outcomes; Advocating for and involving patients, families, and significant others in care decisions, goal setting, and discharge planning; Ensuring nursing staff are practicing according to AHPRA standards, ethical codes, legislation, and maintaining patient confidentiality; Fostering a learning environment by maintaining professional development and providing coaching to ENs, RNs, graduates, students, and staff; Implementing safety and quality frameworks, leading clinical audits, driving quality improvement projects, and participating in risk and safety committees; Promoting a safe, values-driven workplace culture through regular feedback, recognition, and managing workforce planning while ensuring staff wellbeing and safety; Building strong partnerships with external providers to deliver high-quality, coordinated care across the healthcare continuum. CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS Current Registration with AHPRA; Working with Children check; Previous experience at NUM level or equivalent (min. 3 years); Compliance with ACSQHC National standards; A strong commitment to developing in a management role; Computer literacy including MS Office and various databases; Ability to work cohesively within a team environment; Proven time management and prioritisation skills; Demonstrate a sound knowledge base in labour management; Demonstrated HR management experience. Recognised Leadership or Management Qualification, or evidence of working towards same (desirable).
