Senior Quality Engineer Permanent role Sydney based How will I help? A unique opportunity is available for a Senior Quality Engineer to come, join and influence a newly formed team tasked with building a simpler, highly resilient, always on payments platform for the Westpac Group. The Quality Engineer role will be embedded within the engineering teams, working alongside each other to deliver market leading solutions to Westpac’s customers. You’ll also get the opportunity to share how we’re operating differently and influence the existing teams that sit within our group. Payments play a crucial part in everyday banking and with it comes the challenge and pressure of ensuring all changes and solutions are fit for purpose. You will be given the opportunity to use your experiences and industry standards to constantly deliver small and incremental changes. You should have an appreciation and opinion on what good looks like and willing to speak up and share your opinion whilst listen to the others around you, collaboration, transparency and respect are key to be successful in this role. Your key responsibilities include: Own the platforms automated test approach from planning to building to implementation. Work with up and down streams services and implement strategies to remove dependencies for both development, testing and delivery. Provide appropriate automated reporting to prove the platform is meeting both its functional and non-functional requirements Build, maintain and deploy a fully automated test suite at the service and platform level Work with the engineers building the service to guide and educate on the testing best practices Ensure everything that is built, deployed and released is fully traceable and follows Westpac’s ways of working Drive a testing first mindset – promote and demonstrate what shift left truly means What’s in it for me? To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate the below skills: 5 years in Java – preferably 8 -> 21 2 years in Python 2 years using testcontainers 2 years writing BDD specs in gherkin cucumber 2 years working with Kafka A depth of knowledge and practical ideas on how testing automation should be done A true interest in improving the way applications are delivered from a testing and proving view Knowledge of working with an event driven microservice architecture Working knowledge of various tools, open-source technologies, and cloud services – we run Azure and AWS Excellent communication skills.
