In this contract role, you will be paid a daily rate ranging between $600-$700 plus super, dependent on experience. ABN options are also available.
What you’ll be doing:
In this hands on role, you will be tasked with helping the business move from a Windows based OS to a Linux OS. The project that you will be working on involves uplifting the operating system through Yocto and building out the operating system interface. In addition to this, you will work on sorting out driver issues and setting up the automation for field devices so that the updating of these devices is automated going forward.
You will work closely with the hands-on manager, as well as other developers and mechatronics engineers on this critical project for the business. You will be responsible for developing and testing embedded software internally with Windows and Linux operating systems.
Your new role will involve working closely with their unique software and the hundreds of hardware devices deployed nationwide.
Experience required:
You have at least three years of experience in a similar embedded systems engineering role where you have gained knowledge of hardware interfaces. You will have strong experience working with Linux and will be familiar with scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
You enjoy taking on new challenges and have a passion for automation and making things simple for yourself and others. You will ideally have experience in containerisation technologies such as Docker or LXC, an understanding of version control systems, and proficiency with debugging and profiling tools.
You are based in the Newcastle/ Central Coast/ Hunter region to travel into their office a couple of days per week.
