About us:The Gap Bar & Grill is a local restaurant located in the heart of Sunbury, well known for its relaxed and social atmosphere, providing diners with excellent service in a warm and inviting environment.
We are looking for a Chef/Cook to join our team in a part-time capacity and to move into a full-time capacity after a period of time. If you enjoy a fast-paced environment with a strong focus on quality, fresh ingredients, excellent food presentation, and a desire to take initiative in menu advancements, then this is an opportunity for you.
Qualifications & Experience:
Passion for and knowledge of the food industry
Experience in a busy kitchen environment, at least 2 years
Experience with grill, fryer, and pans
Ability to maintain calm under pressure, multitask, and display effective organization and communication with team members
Excellent time management and teamwork skills
A desire to work in a professional, disciplined environment
A drive for knowledge and career development
Desired education background: Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery & Diploma of Hospitality Management or equivalent desired
Responsibilities:
Display practiced and efficient kitchen management
Undertake the preparation and cooking of meals on shift as required
Portion and label produce before cooking, chilling, and distribution
Take lead in menu planning as per restaurant’s direction
Assist, train, and guide new and junior staff
Undertake and manage kitchen cleaning every shift or as necessary
Accept, adhere to, and promote Workplace Health and Safety requirements, appropriate standards, and risk management guidelines
