About the role As a Principal Ecologist at Biosis, you will hold a significant role within the Victorian Ecology Team, serving as a technical expert, project manager/director and client relationship manager. The role will report directly to the Manager– Ecology (Victoria). There is a strong emphasis on leadership, ownership and technical directorship of the Victorian Ecology team. As a Principal Ecologist, you will lead strategic proposals and projects by driving business development and undertaking due diligence assessments for new opportunities. As a technical leader, the role will ensure team cohesion, a key point of contact for technical advice, ongoing work for junior botanists and zoologists, and creating greater capabilities across the team through coaching and mentoring. In addition, as a Principal Ecologist, you will take on responsibility of other key tasks to continue to guide and develop the technical capabilities of the Victorian Ecology Team, including: • Completing regular reviews of reports/outputs for the delivery of high-quality work • Attend fieldwork where high level expertise is required, or for provision of training/coaching • Attending panel hearings and providing expert evidence • Business Development and networking • Maintaining key client relationships • Working closely with the Victorian Ecology team to achieve their goals and productivity targets and to generate ongoing work for the team You will play a pivotal role in driving growth and business development of the Victorian Ecology team by: • Assisting the Biosis leadership team with setting the strategic direction of the Victorian Ecology team • Leading multi-disciplinary teams to deliver complex projects • Leveraging existing client and regulator relationships and build new relationships to secure work • Understanding opportunities, track strategic and large opportunities and manage long-lead opportunities • Working closely with our business development leads and marketing lead on sales, business development and marketing requirements to grow our presence in Victoria You will champion technical excellence to maintain and enhance Biosis’ service offering by: • Collaborating with other teams (including interstate) as part of business development and project work to deliver nationally consistent client experience and quality • Mentoring and guiding staff members within the Victorian Ecology team What you can bring to the role and team: • Ecology/consulting experience of 10 years, along with extensive experience leading teams and projects • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science • Ability to travel for projects, when required • Proven track record in supporting collaborative teams • Excellent workflow management skills underpinned by your passion for client projects • Strong commercial acumen that will support the fulfilment of Biosis’ future growth plans • Outstanding stakeholder engagement and relationship building skills • Excellent technical skills and experience • Valid Australian driver’s licence About Us Biosis is a team of expert consultants specialising in Aboriginal archaeology, botany, environmental approvals, GIS, historical archaeology, historical heritage, and zoology.
